There are necessary differences for classes to be justified.
For example: with the buffs to the Ranger and Paladin, the Barbarian doesn't deal enough damage to justify choosing the class. The Barbarian hasn't changed in so long that his spells are the only ones that haven't undergone a visual change. As I said before, the staff exaggerated the Ranger's damage and the Paladin's damage.
Regarding the Shaman, I agree that, as a Mage, he needs to deal more AoE damage. He's excellent in his specific role, but he lacks versatility for hunts where he needs to deal damage. One change I suggest is having another spell that can deal AoE damage, alternating it with Hailstorm. All the AoE damage options to alternate this are very weak (Whirlwind, Advanced Soul Fire, and Mortal Melody).
