Greetings,
I'm not really sure of that but your post might be considered as directly advertising an application, which is illegal as the rule 2d says. As I've said before - I'm not here to judge you but just to inform and warn you about that possibility.

Yours,
Wilvan Russell.

Don't think it's illegal since I got that program because a GM recommended it on forum.

@Hyuga
Greetings,
I'd like to clear this up, because I think I've been misunderstood. What I said is direct advertising is considered a violation as the rules say. I didn't mean that an application is illegal, but that advertising one might be.
That's what I've meant:
Quoting Rules:
(...)
The points below list prohibited things.
(...)
2) Communication
(...)
d) Direct advertising.

Hope that clears it up.

Yours,
Wilvan Russell.

I see your point, but since nobody has a disadvantage (we might end up with more players because they walk smoother and the guy who posted has no advantage from it and just intended to help people), it would be rather silly to forbid his post that results into a win-win situation. All he wanted to do is help the community by showing them an application that optimizes your machine's way of handling packets, and since the application is widely spread among far bigger MMORPGs than our tiny game, I don't think there's any problem letting our players know about it as well.

Unless the thread starter runs ads on the website that offers it (do they even have?), there's no advantage for him, and let's be realistic - a website where you go once to download something and most likely never return is not going to make a lot of money by ads, so I guess it was only a (non-selfish!) nice act from him to inform people about a proven way to improve their way of how packets are handled.

In other words, unless anyone is harmed by it (for example by advertising other games of same genre, cheat tools, malware,...), there's nothing wrong with a post like this.
