Some random ideas, inspired by my love of the extraordinary.

While I peruse the book Monster Hunt - The Guide To Cryptozoology By Rory Storm, and The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures by John and Caitlin Matthews, I think of the following:

Fairies - They have no attack magic, nor do they deal physical damage but they have two very important spells - they can teleport people short distances and they can make people feel intoxicated. They look similar to swarms, flying and traveling in trios.

Vampires - These soulless creatures of the night can only do damage when up close but if they touch you, beware. They will drain you of health and magic with surprising speed. These creatures are also quite agile so run fast if you see one!

Werewolves - Once a month, on the full moon, a shocking number of townspeople you would deal with every day suddenly turn into gruesome beasts! Who knows which merchant or tavern-keeper will turn next?

Lion Pelt Armour - Just as the great Herakles (or Hercules) of Greek Mythology skinned the Nemean Lion, so should all great warriors take the pelt of some great, savage beast to wear for protection. The Nemean lion which served as the First Labour of Herakles was the offspring of the goddess Echidna and the hound Orthos. It could not be killed by any weapon but the demi-god Herakles wrestled with the beast and killed it. If there were a great lion such as this, warriors from all over would want to defeat and skin it for its impenetrable pelt.

Please feel free to make comments or suggestions, or perhaps make some sprites for me since I don't have the skills to do that myself :)

I would love to see monsters like that. About vampires, would be cool if they would be slow, like as fast as dark monks or smth, but that they sometimes would turn to bat and fly much more faster (smth like werebear or wraith).
About werewolves, some kind of werewolf raid would be cool like once a month. :P

Btw...Fairies are spirits of nature that protect the forests...maybe they could be placed next to the ents and elders.
Teleporting the players to make it difficult to escape from them =)
