Staff could rework Ruthless Execution to throw a poison bomb that explodes on the target but only poisons nearby enemies, reducing the cooldown from 20 to 5 seconds. The explosion ignores the target’s dodge and poisons 4 to 5 nearby monsters (in PvP, only the target is affected), dealing 3 damage ticks equal to 33% of the explosion’s full damage over 3 seconds to the poisoned monsters (one tick per second).

Rogues don’t have a full spell rotation to use in PvE.
They basically depend on how long traps stay on the ground, besides hellish volley. There are two scenarios to consider. If Ruthless Execution becomes a poison debuff spell with a shorter cooldown, there would be no reason to also improve Traps cooldown, only the spell cursor for traps would need to be added. On the other hand, if traps receive a cooldown reduction, ruthless execution should remain a non-AoE, continuing as a single target spell without any debuff effect, but it would still need a significant damage increase.... |

Also, you already lose a time luring putting traps and set your position. traps still 12s hitting, but the cooldwn is about 16s. So, you stay 4 rounds without hitting, and considering you need to set the trap and your position and luring creatures, you still losing more 2s about. so, reducing 2s of the trap , you still without hitting the targets, for somehing like 4s. putting in your foot the trap spells, make you hit 8 creature in the box, but you still losing times. thats why another spell to hit in AoE, but, this spell need to hit less than hellish volley. Rougues isnt equal marksman. Marksman has a great damage spell in AoE, and you can keep hitting without luring anything, you enter in respaw lure and start hitting in the same time. Thats why rougues need a little atention to this. |

Traps should have their cooldown reduced to allow rogues to hunt continuously - just like marksmen do -, solving the issue and finally letting rogues reach the current metagame Ruthless Execution should be changed into an AoE that inflicts small but continuous damage, like a poison over time to monsters surrounding the main target. This would improve rogues without making them unbalanced, either in relation to marksmen or any other subclass. |
