The exprience loss of a death is currently only 1%, and since there are a bunch of nice people on Tipitaka who'd help fighting randomers, it might be worth the try.

I don't see a reason to make an announcement when there is nothing to announce, but if you really want, I can start a blog and let you know how I personally feel everyday there, as this would not really be too proper for announcements :(
