This week's Server Save / Client Update includes the following upgrades:



The Zezenia Online game engine has been upgraded with a new graphics backend. Players will see:

Better Performance: most players should see at least a modest increase in their FPS (Frames Per Second). The biggest improvement can be seen on lower end hardware such as laptops, integrated graphics cards, and certain series of graphics cards.

Increased Compatibility: the previous engine based older Direct3D 9 technology has served us well, but encountered increasing performance issues & crashes with modern graphics card drivers. The new renderer makes use of modern technologies and has wide compatibility.

Added Portability: using the new engine we are happy to announce:



The all new macOS and Linux clients are now available to download from Steam. The macOS client is an Universal Binary with support for Apple M1/M2 & Intel devices. The Linux client is built for x86_64 devices.

Standalone Mac & Linux releases will be available for download outside of Steam later after a testing period.

I do not saw the Enraged & Elite Boost yet, just look the same after the patch i just made download.


The game really had improve, i can feel the lag difference, good work.

So far this new client is a downgrade for me.

When "everything is normal" my FPS is around 60 as usual, but my latency raised by an average permanent 30ms (to 125-130) with respect to what it was. Game stays playable as usual.

But many often my FPS decreases up to 30 while in the same time my latency raises up to 160, resulting in very unpleasant jerky movements.

- Adjusting and disabling the FPS limiter in the game settings

- Toggling VSync in your graphics card settings

In addition, it would be great if you could share your hardware specifications.

I didnt find aswell.. Someone can boost elite again?

Btw, we notice that you can boost with one Right mouse click, insted click each time.. i dont know if it come with update..but thank you!

How am I going to use elite debuff if we don't have this option anymore in the game?

in the old client I had 300fps and in the new one I get 160fps

- the fps limiter is disabled

could you keep the old client? after these previews I was still using it and my performance was better

I am getting 700fps without the limiter. Which is ofc unnecessary and comes with a cost of higher GPU usage. But instead of using 100% GPU it's now down to 39% at 700fps which is nice.

I've always played at 60fps which I find totally fine for the game, using less than 10% of GPU and having a completely smooth game play I think it's working perfectly.

Can't really remember the old numbers of 60fps but unlimited FPS would always max out the GPU before.


For all of you who feel like there was a downgrade in performance, please share at least some of your PC specs.

Sure my hardware is not really up to date

Windows 7 64-bits
Motherboard Asustek H97-PLUS Rev X.0x
intel core i5-4570 cpu @ 3.20ghz
No graphic card (integrated in processor)
FPS normally around 60 (limited or not, it doesn't change. Monitor 60Hz)
GPU usage : will try later, I don't know (I just see Ritari's post and I don't have time to check right now)

I tried various combination playing with Vsync and FPS limiter, I wasn't able to make appear a clear difference.

BUT : I figured out it seems it depends a lot of the part of the map.
Example :
- in HC Quagvill, no problem, stable FPS around 60, stable latency 125-130 (still 30 more than before)
- in GDBoars Millshan, FPS decreases to 45-50
- in Lizard Warriors, or Lizard Spell Castle, FPS decreases to 30
- in Lizard Guardians, stable FPS around 60

Heya,

I'm by no means an expert, but the amount of monsters and animations on screen would for sure affect the performance.
The latency should not be affected in my opinion, that sounds weird :S

And you did better with FPS in all these places before right?
